NEW: Mission. Vision. Possibilities.

“Embracing the responsibility to lead everyday people to new life and new possibilities."

Old Mission Statement: Transforming lives and our community through the lovingkindness of Jesus Christ.

Loving-kindness doesn’t go anywhere until the people of God embrace the responsibility of leading people to new lives and New possibilities.

Our transformation, my personal perfection (sanctification), is a fact, a guarantee.

Isaiah 43:19 - For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

I. Embracing the Responsibility

2 Corinthians 5:20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

We all start out with what God can do for us, but the ultimate goal is what He can do through us.

Matthew 5:14-16  “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Our light is for the people in darkness.

Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Go and make disciples of all nations.

Jesus gave us this responsibility, to go and make disciples.
We are His ambassadors—His light, and its our responsibility.

Once we understand what our responsibility is, we must understand what it looks like to embrace this responsibility.

Embracing the Responsibility isn’t a challenge. It isn’t a suggestion. It’s our responsibility.
When we talk about “Embrace” here at A Fresh Wind, we are talking about making our life one with the responsibility that God has given us to be His light and His ambassador.

So, we embrace the responsibility, recognizing that it's not about what God can do for us, it's about what He can do through us.

To Lead

Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Leading is a simple concept: You can show them the way, through the way you live… react… speak.

Our light is not only for people who don’t follow Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

Part of the responsibility is to make disciples and leading other followers of Christ to freedom in him.

How does that apply to each and every one of us individually?
Which people are my responsibility?

III. Everyday People

We take it serious when Jesus told us to, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).

By everyday people, we in no way mean ordinary.

The people you come in contact with everyday:
Your family. Your colleagues. Your community. Your social community. Wherever you have a voice, the people who hear it are your everyday people.

Our everyday people are different, but when we as a church embrace the responsibility to lead our everyday people, we have the potential to change our families, our schools, our workplace, and our communities for generations to come.

New Life

Here’s the excitement: New life!

2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

God wants to give every person new life. The old has passed away, and all things have become new.

God doesn’t want to just save us from hell; He wants to give us a life that is worth living.

Lamentations 3:22-23: His mercies are new every day.

Our life is new everyday. The life of a follower of Christ is a life of freedom, and that’s exciting!

New Possibilities

Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
