A hiking adventure can be fun, exciting, adventurous, or it could turn into something dangerous.

A tent protects us from the elements and provides a place to rest on a hiking adventure.

Our lives are same way…...they can be a great adventure, or they can be a disaster.

God is always willing to give us rest and protection as we live out this life.

His protection and rest are needed for us to successfully live a life of adventure and fulfillment.

Psalms 61:3-4 - For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.  I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

Rest | Mark 6:30-31

The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.

How do we find rest in God?

Time to rest and relax.  Stillness and quietness.   Unwind.   (Sit on the front porch, sit around a campfire, sit at lake, at a park, etc.)      Noise…...try turning off the tv or radio.   Get in tune with God.

Check your schedules.   Are you going in too many different directions?

It is easier to sense God’s presence, direction, and leading in your life when we are taking time to rest and seek him.

Remember……..the Creator of the Universe rested on the seventh day!

Protection | Proverbs 2:11

Discretion will protect you and understanding will guard you.

Sometimes we have a tendency to do and say foolish stuff, and THEN, we ask God to protect us from the consequences.

Discretion is defined as good judgment, prudence in behavior and speech.

It helps us to evaluate courses of action and consequences.

We need to establish safeguards or guardrails in our lives. (finances, marriage/family, friends, morally, work, etc.)

How does God protect us? Guardrails.

A guardrail that is designed to prevent something really bad from happening like going off a cliff. As Christians, we like to get as close to sin as possible without sinning. We live on the edge of disaster where there is no margin for error.

What are some guardrails that you need to construct in your life?  God will protect us through our guard rails.  We will never regret establishing guardrails.

Paul tells us in Ephesians that we are to be VERY careful how we live because the days are evil.

God has an adventure planned for each one of us.  He wants to live in and through us in order to impact his kingdom.    An adventure of living life for Christ.
