On-Demand God Doesn't Exist. Rejecting false view of who God is: Distorted view of God
GOD DOESN’T EXIST TO SERVE US. WE EXIST TO SERVE HIM.
IF GOD IS NOT AN ON-DEMAND GOD, WHO IS HE?
GOD’S HEART IS ALWAYS LOVING.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?... 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35, 37-39
God doesn’t prove His love when He answers our prayers.
God proved His love when He sent His Son—While we were still sinners!
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:6
GOD’S WAYS ARE ALWAYS HIGHER.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father. James 1:17
May not be better—Different—Unexpected.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
GOD’S PRESENCE IS ALWAYS ENOUGH.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me… Psalm 23:4
Same God that is good on the mountaintop is good in the valley.
My God is way too powerful, wise, magnificent and good to be a puppet to men.
He is the supreme creator, sustainer, and Lord of all.
He is the one who knows the end from the beginning.
Talk It Over
- Are your prayers more focused on submitting to God's will or asking Him to carry out your desires? How did you come to praying this way?
- What does it look or feel like when you experience the love and presence of God? Can you give some examples?
- Are there any areas in your life where you still don’t understand God’s plans or how He’s involved? What can you do?
START PRAYING. Be bold, and pray with power.
"God, we want to believe, but sometimes we struggle. You said You’re, loving, trustworthy, and with us. But we have situations in our lives that lead us to doubt You. Will You bring Your love into our darkest valleys? Will You help us in our unbelief? Amen."
START DOING. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
Memorize Psalm 23:4 this week. When you experience something difficult, pray it to God and invite His presence into your situation.
