Fix Your Focus
If we don’t have our relationship with God right, and our relationship with ourself right, then we will never get our relationship with others right.
Four Areas of Focus
1. Finding or Becoming
The only way you’ll have the right people in your life is if you’ll be the right person in your heart.
We’re so focused on the catching that we don’t even pay attention to the commitment that is required.
2. Then or Now
"Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength." -Corrie ten Boom
A lot of relationships are sabotaged before they ever begin, because the issues haven’t been dealt with.
It’s cool to think about tomorrow. To plan for the future. To think about your hopes and dreams.
But we can’t live there!
It’s about focus. The only way to tomorrow is through today, so you have to live in the here and now.
3. Not or Got
"A lot of people fear intimacy, because I don’t want you to see 'in-to-me.'" -Steven Furtick
In any relationship, in any situation... you choose what you magnify. And the reality is, what you magnify you get more of.
4. Theirs or Mine
You can’t get your vertical relationship with God right, if you won’t get your horizontal relationships with others right.
But you also can’t get your horizontal relationships right until you’re vertical relationship is right.
Love your neighbor as yourself is a command, but it’s also indicative of how we view ourselves.
