Samuel 2019

Be Restored

Be Restored

During our walk through First and Second Samuel, we’ve seen and learned a lot. We’ve discovered a God who answers prayers, uses children, pursues His children, and uses people despite their weaknesses. Yet, there’s a constant theme that weaves itself through 1 & 2 Samuel. It shows up again and again, in different people, different circumstances, and different methods. What we discover is that God is a God who restores.

Faced with three terrible options, King David chooses to fall into the hands of a gracious God. In his moment of repentance, he declares he will not present an offering to the Lord that cost him nothing. David understood the importance of counting the cost, a task Jesus would charge His followers with as well. Have you truly counted the cost of following Christ? It's a free gift that cost you everything.

You Plant Corn...

You Plant Corn...

If you want to harvest righteousness in our life tomorrow you must plant seeds of righteousness today. Don’t be afraid of your sowing wickedness! You acts of goodness and righteousness are 250 times more powerful! Now is not the time to whine--it’s the time to sow! Sow with abandon and choke out the weeds. Sow to the Spirit and reap a life worth living! You don’t have to reap what you sow, you get too! I am a child of God. I can and will make a impact. For a 1000 generations!

Hosea 10:12 NLT - I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’

Something Better

Something Better

After settling into his palace, David turns his attention to building a home suitable for God. Except, God doesn't want one. Not yet. Instead, God promises to build David a house--a dynasty--that will last forever. Because ultimately, God doesn't desire to dwell among His people, He desires to live in them. And it's this reality, Christ in you, that is the hope of glory.

Mercy

Mercy

If you want to be a man or woman after God’s own heart you are going to have to show mercy. I get the fact that we need wisdom for this. But we can ask god for that. He will give it liberally. I’ll give you a hint, err on the side of mercy. It is His mercy that made us His when we deserved eternal punishment. His mercy has given us eternity. Given that, don’t you think you should show mercy? Jesus said be merciful just like your Father.
