CHURCH STATEMENT: A Response.

July 10th, 2016

Dear Church Family,

In the wake of all that has been happening in our country, the killings and the outcry in their aftermath, the leadership of A Fresh Wind felt it necessary to issue a response. We want to be clear that A Fresh Wind Church chooses to stand with Christ.

Hebrews 12:4 tells us that we all should strive to live at peace with everyone. Unfortunately just the opposite seems to be happening throughout our country. Never the less, it is our duty to shine light where there is darkness.

YOU are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
— JESUS (Matthew 5:14-16)

A Fresh Wind ≈

Jesus said, “for God so loved the World”... We choose to love, to help, and to heal in every way we can because as the church, we are an expression of His love. We believe that we as Christ followers should not fall into the narrative from any political side or ideology , but should follow the lead of our Savior who called us to be light, to run to the darkness, to be a healing force, self controlled and steadfast. We can help heal our land. God’s answer to the horror we have seen in our country is His Church. We are the tools that God uses.

To that end, we implore you to use wisdom in what you share on social media. To use your platform and your voice to speak peace, not hatred or division. It's times like these that you must let your light shine and make a positive difference. To be a fresh wind of peace, hope, and love in a time where rage consumes our land and divides the people we love so much.

We are calling for a fast for this Monday or Tuesday. We are asking you to pick either day to set aside time to pray for our country. To pray for wisdom for our leaders that they would make the right decisions going forward for our nation. To pray for our African American brothers and sisters that are suffering. To pray for our police departments as they struggle through this dark time trying to find answers. To pray for unity and for love to win. And to pray for protection from the evil forces that seek to divide us and do us harm.

Ask God to move us from:

// Division to Unity // Apathy to Action
// Unbelief to Faith // Shame to Grace
// Fear to Hope // Pride to Humility
// Hate to Love

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will HEAR from heaven and will FORGIVE their sins and RESTORE their land.
— 2 Chronicles 7:14
